Typical procedural software system consists of multiple functions which share
the state and interact. We would see methods for designing a modular function,
to decompose the function into reusable and loosely coupled sub functions and
its visual representation. We will also examine the process and best practices

their transition from real-world to virtual work easier and friendlier. For
instance a typical grocery shopping involves grocery items, shopping cart and
purchase. If this process is modeled in software world, it would involve almost

possible by Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). CSS allows separation of content of

practical of Web programming course. This lab course supports the course
BCS053: Web Programming. We propose that you use an IDE such as Netbeans,
Eclipse or any other IDE for web development. You are advised to install the

3 hours each. This lab manual lists the lab exercises that you need to perform
during each of the lab sessions. You should try to use the available time by

JavaScript. Last four sessions are devoted to writing JSP and JDBC oriented

programming and the Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) paradigms are the two
paradigms that have been drawing attention of programmers for last so many
years. The term OOP was used by Xerox PARC for the first time in its
programming language, Smalltalk referring to the usage of objects as
computational units for processing. The language Smalltalk itself got its
inspiration from another OOP language called Simula 67 developed under the
aegis of Simula Project in late 60s. The feature of inheritance introduced for
the first time in Smalltalk allowed it to surpass both Simula 67 as well as
other analog programming systems. Simula 67 and Smalltalk paved the way for
